1000x Firing Point Update

1000x Firing Point Update

Posted on 21th March, 2025

Update as of 21st March 2025

Please be aware that over the past few months we have been making improvements to the 1000 yard firing point on Stickledown. The depth of the Firing Point (FP) across lanes 25 to 50 has been increased by approx. 2m, providing more space for shooters and equipment. In doing so, we have seeded the area and are now needing to avoid using this a little longer in order to let it settle and allow the grass to grow as much as possible.

As such, from the 1st April, the following will apply:
  • Lanes 25 – 45 will be cordoned off at the back of the firing point. There will be certain access paths to the firing points in between these lane numbers. The firing point will be narrow, so please take care accessing your lane around other shooters.
  • Lanes 46 – 50 where the electronic targets are situated, there will be shooting platforms placed slightly forward of the usual firing point. These have been stabilised and will have an artificial grass top applied. They are approx. 8ft by 8ft. Access will be to the right hand side of target 50.

We appreciate your understanding during this time and apologise for any incovenience this may cause.

Please be aware that over the past few weeks we have been making improvements to 1000 yard firing point on Stickledown. The depth of the Firing Point (FP) across lanes 25 to 50 has been increased by Approx. 2m, providing more space for shooters and equipment. In doing so we have seeded the area and are now needing to avoid using this area to let it settle and allow the grass to grow as much as possible until the high season (end of March).

During this time we will be putting all shooting at 900x on the weekdays. During weekends, where possible we will accommodate the 1000x bookings that have already been confirmed but these will be moved to the left hand side/middle of the range. Any 900x shooting will take place from the right hand side. Car access can be permitted down to the 900x firing point via a gate just in front of the 1000x point on the right hand side, this will be determined on the day and weather dependent.

If you have a booking that is affected by the above, the Range Office team will be in contact.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your bookings, please contact Range.Office@nra.org.uk
