About the Range

Stickledown is the longest range at the National Shooting Centre, with firing points ranging from 800yrds out to 1200yrds. A popular host to major competitions all year round, Stickledown attracts avid shooters from all over the world. Stickledown offers 51 targets, of which range from manually marked, electronic and an individual Buffalo target (see below).

Access is restricted in to the butts and must be granted by Range Control. Access times are usually 0815 - 1230 and 1315 - end of shooting. Please note these times may vary depending on competitions.

Firearms permitted 

Rifles; (gallery rifles, shotguns and pistols by special arrangement only)

Maximum Muzzle Velocity: 1000 m/s (3280 ft/s)

Maximum Muzzle Energy: 4500J (3319 ft/lb) 

HME Permitted; 4500J - 7000J HME procedures apply

Special Requirements

  • The use of muzzle brakes is to be requested at the time of booking

Facilities 

Parking: 

  • For the 1000x targets there is parking at the back of the firing point or in the car park by the Clock Tower.
  • At 900x parking will be restricted on the range floor unless disabled access is required. You will need to park at 1000x and walk forward.
  • Disabled access; ability to drive to the rear of your firing point is permitted, but is weather dependant. Please check with the Range Office beforehand. 
  • Butt Markers to park vehicles in Melville car park, or the overflow area next to BSRC (what3words expose.feels.watch). Please do not park on the range floor due to various distance fallbacks.

Toilets: 

  • There are various toilets around Stickledown, the nearest being Melville.

- Snaps (4x Fig11) targets

 

Electronic Targets

We have up to 11 Intarso electronic lanes available, usually set at 900 and 1000yds, dependent on competitions. Click here for more information. 

 Steel Buffalo

Buffalo 

Target 51 on Stickledown is know as the 'Steel Buffalo' target. The target is as in the name; a large Steel Buffalo target, of which has hit registering lights on. 

The Buffalo is a unique target to Bisley, and gives a different shooting experience to all other ranges. 

The Buffalo is bookable by the hour. Bookings are made online as normal, under the range selection of 'Steel Buffalo'.

The distance will usually be set at 1oooyds adjacent to our electronic targets. This may vary dependent on competitions. 

All range regulations, and firearms/ammunition permitted are the same as Stickledown.

How to Book

Select the range as either 'Stickledown', 'Stix Electronic (Session)',  or 'Stickledown Electronic' (for hourly options).

Select the number of lanes as required, and the timings (applicable for hourly bookings only; for full 'Sessions' please select AM or PM).

Please note that 'fallback' bookings (that are requested for a date that does not already have a pre-approved fallback occurring), can only be approved 7 days before the booking date.
